I doubt I'm the only one who can't wait to see this movie. I may actually go to the theaters to see it, which I very rarely do. You gotta love a movie with lines like this:
Kid #3: My Mommy say smoking is bad for you
Nick Naylor: Oh, is your Mommy a doctor?
Kid #3: No.
Nick Naylor: A scientific researcher of some kind?
Kid #3: No.
Nick Naylor: Well then she's hardly a credible expert, is she?

You may all recall that a certain bad movie was released in mid-April…a movie which I have not yet seen, but which is now available on DVD. I was just at the local gas station/grocery store/video store, and there it was, available right there on the shelf. I considered it for a few minutes, and…
Where we left our heroine at the end of the last episode, she was on her way to pick Minnow up from daycare. Work day's over right? Should be smooth sailing from here to midnight. Maybe, maybe not.
(Note to Lab Lemming: Don't worry about the time to type up these posts. They were compiled from…
Since half the blogs on the net seem to be making lists of their favorite movie quotes, I thought I'd add some of mine. Some movies are just goldmines of great lines - Caddyshack, almost any Kevin Smith movie, Bull Durham. Herewith some of my absolute favorites, without the title of the movie so…
Madeline Holler at Salon has a rather cute essay about her failures at becoming a radical homemaker. On my first quick skim through it (it was sent to me by several readers, so thanks!), I was inclined to give it a total pass, because I found myself rather liking Holler, and sympathizing to an…
If you liked Thank You For Smoking, you'll love Christopher Buckley's adventures of strategic communications expert extraordinaire, Rick Renard.
You can read his exploits in the Atlantic, from electing an American Pope, to defending hapless whale hunters, to prompting the painfully slow British Royal Succession.
I expect that Mr. Renard will appear in some future movie.

That's a wonderful movie - smart, funny & cool. Definitely check it out.
I was thinking the same thing, Ed. I think it's gonna be big.
Sounds like a good black comedy, something we don't get enough of (Alexander Payne's movies like Election, perhaps The Squid and the Whale, and the Opposite of Sex in the last ten years qualify). Aaron Eckhart, of course, starred in the pitch-blackest of dramedies, In The Company of Men.
It's done pretty well in limited release, making $8 million and having a per-screen average second only to the juggernaut that is Ice Age II.
