Dog days of summer

The 'dog days' of summer are the hottest time of the year, and boy weve been dealing with that crap for the past couple of weeks. Its been miserable out-- getting so hot, it doesnt cool off outside until 6 am the next friggin morning.

Ugh, and the 'dog days' of summer arent that fun for Arnie. 105 degree days are really hard on him-- hot air, hot sidewalk, sun beating down on the poor black pup... Outside time isnt fun time, so our normal run schedule is totally screwed up.

Well for some reason we are getting a nice break with a couple random 75-85 degree days, which means BIG run days!

hehehehehe!

If you are a meat eater, you probably appreciate the texture and flavor of a nice piece of loin, or a properly cooked pork chop, or a chicken breast that is moist and flavorful. But what is it about hot dogs that you appreciate? The pasty enigmatic texture?
Regular readers know that I'm really into smokin' hot sauces. I mean real hot. I'm the guy who the chefs at the local Thai restaurant know well enough to get their habanero paste ready for the medium rare steak flank.
Amanda, a fellow hot-pepper-lover, reminds me that I have not finished my Hot Pepper series.

Get a spray bottle, fill with tap water, and spray the poor guy. Evaporative cooling will keep him from overheating, and as he gets used to it the spraying can become a fun game.

Indoors, add a fan to speed the evaporation.

Dog slobber. Lots and lots of dog slobber.

But we love them anyway.
