This spectacular video focuses on Iceland. Land of contrasts: Hot water and Ice, situated in the North Atlantic, right above the mid-ocean ridge that separates America and Europe. [6:12]
The cinematographer writes:
Shooting was done in two stays (2 weeks each) in 2005 & 2006 (both in September) with a result of 15 hours of footage.
Camera was a SONY Z1. I used some COKIN semi-grey Filters extensivley to get the sky as dark as I wanted it to be. Almost no color correction was done in the post, but the timelapse and slo-mo.

We were planning to head to Europe so when I discovered that the cheapest tickets were being offered by Icelandair, I jumped on it. Why? I have always wanted to visit this mystic land and Icelandair lets you have a free stopover for up to a week. I highly recommend that you do this once - Iceland…
You already know abut the North American Conveyor current. Briefly: The major ocean currents happen because the equatorial ocean is warmer, and since water (unlike land) can move (though not as fast as air) the dissipation of this heat across the surface of the Earth results in warm water moving,…

This video is amazing! It captures an amazing series of foosball matches, complete with all the wacky new tricks that were done. Plus, after the main video is over, you…
NCSIDC has it's monthly analysis for September done and as expected, it ain't pretty.
Arctic sea ice extent averaged for September 2012 was the lowest in the satellite record, and was 16% lower than the previous low for the month, which occurred in 2007. Through 2012, the linear rate of decline for…
Yes, but enough about their economy.
Iceland is one place I hope to see before I die (preferably in September, I'm thinking). It really is breathtakingly beautiful, and the fact that Sigur Rós and Björk come from there is just added incentive.
Thanks so much for posting this work.
Iceland is one place I have always wanted to visit. Someday I will. I have also always wanted to shoot a film like that focusing on landscapes and weather with a lot of time lapse and the like. If I were to choose a camera system now it would be the Red camera (www.red.com). Someday, when I have some money, I will do this.
I've been to Iceland once, but only at the airport. Iceland Air make everyone disembark even if you continue on the same plane. That way you can shop for their sheep stuff. I bought a scratchy pullover. I was on my way to Europe. Two years ago, I was looking for a place to vacation, and Iceland or another Scandinavian country was where I was looking to go. After finding out how expensive they are I ruled them out. I went to the Netherlands instead. Now that their (Icelanders) money is worthless, the country might be reasonably priced. I have not checked into it. This coming Summer will probably be Italy.
