I have spent most of today finishing up Jane Davidson's A History of Paleontology Illustration (a review of which I intend on will writing up shortly), but I took a quick break to blow a few bucks at the Cranbury Bookworm. Here's what I came home with;
Evolution for John Doe - Henshaw Ward (1925)
African Exodus - Christopher Stringer & Robin McKie (1996)
Piltdown - Frank Spencer (1990)
Annie's Box - Randal Keynes (2001)
Life - Richard Fortey (1997)
I'm not letting myself start any of them until I have written the review of Davidson's book, however, and by that time I might put some more time in on my own book. (A complete list of updates on the book project can be found here, in the archives.)

Timothy Sandefur says this is the hot thing to do on blogs, and being the fashionable guy I am, I'll play along. It's a list of the top 100 grossing films of all time, with bold for the ones you saw in the theater and italics for the ones you saw on video, along with a few comments:

There's a new movie being developed on the life of Charles Darwin that actually has the potential to be good. It's based on Randal Keyne's book, Annie's Box(amzn/b&n/abe/pwll), which is an excellent source that humanizes the man well. It also has a good cast so far, although, seriously,…
Those of you who are regular readers know that I have been yammering about my book-in-progress for quite some time now (at least since March, if not before). I am pleased to say, though, that as the weeks and months have rolled by I have attracted some new readers, but some of them have expressed…
One hundred movies that if you have not seen, perhaps liked, perhaps think represent something either important or entertaining, and remember, then you are probably not me.
I'll make a deal with you. You can tell me to watch any movie that is not on this list and if I have not seen it, I'll put…
Life is a wonderful book, although I haven't gotten past the Carboniferous yet, trying to read several books at once is not a good idea!
